text message input

Hi all.

Just got this phone and im loving it. Just got one issue with it so far and that is when typing a text message i like to use the qwerty keyboard but every time i go to type a message the input mode changes to the keypad mode. Does anyone know how to change it so that the keyboard input comes up as default.

Hope this makes sense
