Hello everyone,

My Lg Renoir has aGPS on it and i know what it is.
Only thing i don't know is how i have to use it as a true gps system.

The thing I want t archive is set i route ( starting point, ending point ) and the aGPS in the renoir shows me  how i have to walk to it. Samething with Google Maps but without Wifi.

When i am in the "wilderniss" there isnt wifi so i want to use my aGPS.

What kind of apps work with my Renoir and it's aGPS ability.

Read about it in here: http://www.renoir-lg.com/general-lg-renoir-discussion/wifi-and-gps/

Long story short, amazeGPS is one that is free apart from internet connection costs, but if you're in the wilderness you'll probably be on a roaming network and not 3g, which means higher internet cost per MB not covered under a mobile internet plan you may have with your operator, check out costs and coverage areas with them.

That's the one I use. On the Renoir you need to use RC10, as RC11 doesn't work with the internal GPS for some reason. It's not perfect, but they are still working on it Smiley

Thanks, this looks very useful indeed, can't wait to try it out, especially with those optional voices  Grin

Can you get it runnin`? Because, when I try to put the RC10 as the `manual for KC910` on the page says:

4b. LG KC910 (and others?)
The LG KC910 only allows setting of rights on specific folders. To do this, follow this procedure:
Copy jad and jar from PC to \card\games&applications. From within the phone, move them to the phone memory. Now, in games&applications, you dispose of the context menu Manage rights.
Here you can easily assign permanent read and write access to any application of your choice.

... the copy \card ... etc. when I go to the phone I don`t see the jar or jad .. what the HELL ! am I doing wrong ?!  Grin

Use the Java sub-program within PC Suite to put java stuff on the phone, it's easier than that mess you've got there  Cheesy
I put the .jar of whatever java thing I'm trying to install on my desktop, go to desktop path in PC Suite>Java and double click the jar file to install.

Great now the install work, but when it says `complete instalation in phone` and disconnects an error screen pops up `Authentication failed`. What now? and do you put it in the phone or external memory ? thx in advance ... I feel like a <> n00b  Grin

Don't worry it shouldn't be doing that, what the PC Suite Java sub-applet does is copy the .jar file to the 'others' folder on the phone's own memory and installs it from there, try checking your java settings and making sure everything is allowed.

Been on holiday for 14 days, hurrey !  Grin
Now ... the soft is installed but! now I need to get there the maps. Been reading some other sites [even german omg] and there they say that I should put the content of the map packs in:
Nach L:\Others\WeTravel\Map die Karten-Dateien Version 10 oder 11 kopieren,
nach L:\Others\WeTravel\Voice die Ansage-Dateien (fem.dt.) kopieren.

.... but if I put the Micro SD[HC] in my card reader it wont show it in `computer`, any idea why ? using win Vista SP1 updated...

i also have something to ask i want to find a programm for the renoir so that i don't have to be online to use it as a gps i mean since it has a gps receiver it has to be an aplet that doesn't use the a-gps but only the standalone version via a satelite...

There is a program called We-Travel that does that, you upload the maps to your phone, it's a complex thing to install since you need to have the .jad file aswell, plus change the date to 4th jan 2008, I wasnt impressed with the program.

The only problem with renoir is that it doesn't store the maps somewhere if only there was an applet that let's you do it then the problem is solved googlemaps are great but you need to be connected to renew the map you are currently viewing ...
