Title: LG Renoir question re pics and ringtones Post by: jules on November 28, 2008, 08:25:13 AM Hi All - I have lovely new LG Renoir but such a technophobe. Can anyone tell me if its pos
to add little pics to speed dial squares. Also can those pics be made to show whos ringing? Also. I would like to download and use a different ringtone for my messages as the alert is to subtle by far for me. Is this pos? I have yet to work out how to download a ringtone let alone assign it to my message alert. I will be very grateful for any assistance and needless to say it will have to be crystal clear. ::) Thanks in anticipation Jules Title: Re: LG Renoir question re pics and ringtones Post by: andyc on November 30, 2008, 04:14:39 PM Re- Best way to add downloaded ringtones is to download them to a folder on your pc or lap top then install lg pc suite (it is included with your phone package) copy the ringtone into the sounds folder on your phone using the pc suite interface.
Adding it as a ringtone or message tone - go into your my sounds folder in my stuff scroll down to the ringtone, play the ringtone, as it is playing touch the top left hand menu button, one of the options you get is use as, you can then use the tone as a ringtone or message tone or even video ringtone. Hope this helps. andyc Title: Re: LG Renoir question re pics and ringtones Post by: jules on December 01, 2008, 05:56:13 AM Thanks very much Andyc for your help. I will set myself up with some quality time and my phone/pc
and follow your instructions to the letter. Fingers crossed and thanks again. Title: Re: LG Renoir question re pics and ringtones Post by: Gearu on December 05, 2008, 10:04:13 AM Yes, you can set pictures for the speed dial squares (these same pictures should show for who's ringing), but it only works for contacts stored on the handset, so you have to copy all your contacts to the handset, then, to ensure you don't see and have to scroll through double of each contact, go to Blue Dice Menu>Contacts>Contact Settings>Contact List Settings and choose Handset and then Save
Setting a picture Pictures taken in the regular normal megapixel sizes available will fit the squares perfectly, whereas the contact photo setting size images do not. Before I figured this out I modified the size of a contact size picture on my pc and I know that a 176x140 resolution picture fits 100% too. Ok, find the picture you want to use for a contact in the images folder (you can use images stored on external memory too), and open the menu in the top left and choose 'Use As', then select Contacts Image, then choose your contact. Choose your contact, and on the next screen, where it will show 'handset' selected up the top, choose save . Repeat for each contact Step 3: Completing the speed dial Open up the speed dial screen, choose a square, then choose your contact, then your contact should appear in the chosen speed dial box with their picture. Enjoy (I'd never played with the speed dial until you asked about it, I'm loving trying to figure out how to do tricky stuff with this phone, it's a game in itself). Thanks so much for your reply. I have managed the first bit (although my husband is now on my phone 4 times!). However I dont know what the blue dice menu is. I dont have my instruction book at the mo. Can you explain it in any other way. Thanks again Jules Title: Re: LG Renoir question re pics and ringtones Post by: Gearu on December 09, 2008, 11:37:40 PM The blue dice menu is the menu you get when you press on the icon in the bottom right that looks like a blue dice with white dots, but.. I just remembered that other countries have different icons and imagery on their Renoirs, so yours may have what looks like a blue dice with a white hand/index finger on it, or something different altogether ;D
Either way, wherever I've got 'Blue Dice Menu', I'm referring to the button on the bottom right of the desktop/main screen. ;) |
